Papa Yapa

Papa Yapa was started in October 2024 by Jason Casanovas . Jason's journey started around 2011 when he got his first bass guitar. He would describe it as love at first sight. Even at a young age Jason always had an eclectic taste in music, his main music influences back then where Victor Wooten , James Jamerson , A Tribe Called Quest , and Louis Armstrong.  A few months after getting his first bass , Jason decided to stop searching for influences from other music , and almost completely stopped listening to music. He decided the only music he could enjoy was music he knew he could never replicate which was mostly jazz and classical piano and other obscure genres. Of course , through over a decade of playing with local NJ bands , Jason was introduced to plenty of amazing music and so his style naturally grew from bass heavy , old-school rap to a more alternative , guitar and melody focused , genre bending sound.
